I promised details about the boy's double birthday party and here they are! We had a blast! Since the heat of August can make things unbearable we had a water theme at the party. We brought back last year's ever popular giant slip n'slide (more popular with the adults) and added Hearthsong's Great Big Outdoor Playball to make it a little more exciting.
Both the kids and adults loved running with the ball around them and then sliding onto the slip n'slide and riding the ball down. You can check out the review on the Outdoor Playball to see a video. We went with a bit of a carnival theme when it came to food. I bagged up popcorn, peanuts, cotton candy, and animal crackers and tied them with ribbon. We also served corn dogs which were surprisingly yummy. No surprise the boys maxed out on the presents.
Some of the favorite gifts were Connor's trains & batcave
and then Jackson's drumset, microphone, and guitar.
When the instruments were unwrapped the kids gave us a little concert!
The cake was yet again Thomas (Connor picks the same thing every year)
and Jackson's first cake was a little frog cupcake
with way too much green icing.
Connor and Jackson wore matching shorts...Connor lost his shirt and Jackson sported a tee from Urban Bratz
(it says 'Go shorty, it's my 1st Birthday). All in all we had a wonderful celebration and I am glad that for the time being there are no parties to plan for a long while. What will we come up with next year? I'm thinking something that is not at our home and involves no clean up on my part.
