Musicolor

I am constantly searching for the toy that will buy me a whole 30 minutes or even an hour to get something done. I want something that my son can do on his own (it's hard to get anything accomplished if your assistance is needed every time you walk away from the table). Recently my 4 year old has become really obsessed with coloring. A new coloring book will keep him busy for a while but when we tried out Musicolor - it kept him captivated for well over an hour! Musicolor looks like a retro record player but it actually takes reads the colors on the disc and translates them to sound. It comes with 14 pre-printed song discs and 5 create a song discs. Each of the eight included Music Note markers have a letter on them - the letters correspond to the song discs. For example: where your child sees an "G" they color pink and a "A" they color blue.

Then when they finish coloring the disc it will play a song that they probably know by heart like "the wheels on the bus" (which is now constantly playing in our home). Your child can even create their own original song by coloring one of the blank songs discs.

I was really amazed at how quickly my little guy grasped the concept of making his own music. I was scared he would have trouble coloring the correct colors on the discs but he got that down instantly. He was so proud to show off each of his newly created songs and his absolute favorite was to play the songs he had composed himself. Sorry to admit, but at this time it is safe to say he is no Mozart but I'm very thankful to have found something that he really enjoys (and that gives me the time to type this review). Once your child uses up their Music Note Markers ($6) or their Create A Song Discs($6) they can get refill packs. Thus the fun doesn't have to end when they lose the G Music Note Marker! You can get your own online from Target, Amazon, and Delta Creative for $49.99.

You can enter to win your own Musicolor!! To enter this giveaway - visit Delta Creative and check out the full list of songs included in the set. Comment below telling us which song would the child in your life be most excited to color? The deadline to enter is Febraury 8th at midnight EST. As always you double your winning chances by being a subscriber. Just type "subscriber" in with your comment. This giveaway is open to US residents only. THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.

Congrats to our winner: Susan! Her comment was: "I think my 2 year old grandson would like Jingle Bells the best. It's the same tune that Elmo sings to so he'd think that would be fun to color to."
