Joovy Caboose

Let's just say excited is an understatement when it comes to my face after opening the new Joovy Caboose Ultralight Special Edition Stroller. It was like Christmas morning for this mommy. I immediately assembled the stroller, all by myself I might add. The assembly was simple (had to be if I could do it), all you really had to do was attach the wheels. After I had the wheels on safely off we went for a stroll around the neighborhood.

In my opinion this is the perfect stroller for parents with a toddler and a baby. When your baby is young it comes complete with an attachment to replace the snack tray on the front and allow you to hook your infant carseat in safely. When you have the carseat in place - between the carseat canopy and the extra large Joovy Caboose canopy you have the option to completely shield your baby from view (this looks much better than tossing a blanket over the carseat).

Your toddler will love this stroller because it's not only fun but they get to make their own choices & can get in the stroller with very little help from a parent. Your toddler can stand on the rear platform of the stroller while you push. Connor thought this was the coolest thing. He also thought that he was a trash man because he got to stand on a moving vehicle! I thought it might be hard to push with your child standing in your way but in reality your child is well behind the stroller handle and not in your way in the slightest. Toddlers can also sit on a bench that comes complete with a safety harness. This was one of my favorite features because it does give you the option of making your hyper child stay in the their seat! Connor loved the power he had by choosing to sit or to stand and I loved that I didn't have to help him in & out of the stroller every few minutes!

The front seat becomes a comfy place for your baby from the age of 6 months to 45 lbs. Connor is almost 3 & he still fit comfy in the front. Transforming the front seat is simple. Remove the car seat adapter and attach the snack tray (this is really easy to do). The front seat will recline and the foot rest will adjust to the comfort of your child. It has a a deluxe safety harness that is quick to secure for mom but hard for a child to escape. The special edition includes a reversible all season pad for the front seat. I loved this pad. It wasn't difficult for me to put on and it not only keeps the stroller cleaner - it adds more comfort for your child. One side of the pad is a really soft, warm fleece perfect for cold weather and the other side is made to keep moisture away in the hot summer months. It is so much easier to remove & clean stains out of this pad then to try and scrub them out of the actual seat.

Another thing to love about this stroller is the deluxe sun canopy. This canopy is really large! You can block the sun from both of your children with it and it is so versatile in it's positioning. You can have it wherever you desire, pushed forward, pushed backward, covering baby & toddler, just covering baby, etc....

The Joovy Caboose Ultralight didn't just think about the needs of your children. It really covers the needs of the parent as well. First of all they included lots of storage under the stroller with a roomy basket. The basket is easy to get to because the rear seat slides forward to allow quick access. The stroller also comes complete with a neoprene parent organizer. It slips on easily and has a two cup holders plus a double zippered storage pocket. The neoprene fabric helps insulate drinks. I love how easy it is to remove & put on because it makes the organizer easy to clean. The cup holders in my other stroller would always get sticky stuff & crumbs in it that were hard to clean out.

Another thoughtful thing the Joovy Caboose Ultralight did for mom was to make it lightweight. It only weighs 21 pounds - that's less than my son! I can lift this stroller without a struggle into my trunk. I had a single stroller that I had trouble lifting on my own, so I'm impressed with a double stroller that actually weighs less. The stroller is so easy to fold up (you pull up on the sides and voila) and when folded it is relatively small. It will take up some space in your trunk but compared to other double strollers - it takes far less.

Lastly, this stroller works fine as a single stroller too. It's not really that obvious that there are supposed to be two children in it. When you are only using the front seat you have a handy little seat to put your purse on too. I would feel silly pushing around a huge double stroller with only one child in it, but with the Joovy, I don't think anyone knows the difference. Most of the time I would need both seats but there are times when you only have one child with you and you don't want to have to keep a second stroller in your trunk just in case you should need a single stroller.

This stroller is lightweight, well made, easy to assemble, has good storage, folds up quickly, and it looks amazing. I would strongly recommend the Joovy Caboose Ultralight to parents with a child over 2 and a younger sibling! On my stroller scale of 1 -10 , it would get a 9!

Thanks for this review. We have been stroller shopping with #2 on the way and were wondering if the ultralight/special edition is worth the extra money versus the original caboose. And I was curious about whether the canopy worked well with the carseat... looks like it does!

Great review! I am traveling alone next week and I have a 1-month-old and a toddler so I needed something to help me. Your review definitely helped me make my decision.

Ours arrives on Monday, and I can't wait! (Just unloaded our Baby Jogger City Double, which was WAY too much stroller now that the 2.75-year-old would rather walk.)

I looked at so many smaller doubles, and the Ultralight was the hands-down winner...

I looked at lots and lots of double strollers before deciding on a sit n stand model. Then I looked at several different brands when I decided on this one. I had already bought it when I happened upon this review and it was a real relief to actually see how easy it was to use. Thanks.

What about the tires? Are they durable enough to handle city life or just strolls on a nice, smooth sidewalk? Does the stroller maneuver well through tight shopping spaces?

It maneuvers pretty good at the mall. The stroller does well on the bumpy sidewalks in my neighborhood but I have yet to try it any off roads :)

How does the ultralight compare to the normal caboose? Does the simple caboose have all of the bells and whistles?

How does this compare to the Ergo Caboose. Is it worth the extra cash or should I stick with the Lightweight?

on the video it does not show the straps to hold the car seat in place. do you not use these? we are looking at the manual on line and it shows straps being used.
